Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the tofuCut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes. Place in a large bowl and sprinkle with cornstarch, tossing gently until all cubes are lightly coated.
-
Pan-fry the tofuHeat vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the tofu cubes in a single layer (work in batches if necessary). Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
-
Make the teriyaki sauceIn a medium saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the sauce begins to thicken. Remove from heat and stir in sesame oil.
-
Glaze the tofuReturn the crispy tofu to the skillet over medium heat. Pour the teriyaki sauce over the tofu and gently toss to coat. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce has reduced slightly and coats the tofu cubes.
-
Finish and serveSprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve immediately over steamed rice or with stir-fried vegetables. For best results, serve while the tofu is still hot and the sauce is glossy.
