Ingredients
Instructions
-
Press the tofuWrap the tofu block in paper towels and place a heavy object on top. Let it sit for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut into 1/2-inch thick slices.
-
Prepare the marinadeIn a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, gochujang, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and red pepper flakes if using.
-
Marinate the tofuPlace the tofu slices in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Gently turn the slices to ensure they're coated on all sides. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator for a more intense flavor.
-
Cook the tofuHeat vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the tofu slices in a single layer, reserving the marinade. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and caramelized.
-
Reduce the saucePour the remaining marinade into the pan with the tofu and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the tofu pieces, turning them occasionally to ensure even coating.
-
ServeTransfer the tofu to a serving plate. Garnish with additional sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot with steamed rice and side dishes like kimchi or pickled vegetables.
