Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the tofuPress the tofu between paper towels with a heavy object for 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture. Cut into 1-inch cubes and toss gently with cornstarch until evenly coated.
-
Cook the tofuHeat vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add tofu cubes in a single layer and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden and crispy on all sides. Work in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
-
Make the glazeIn a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until well combined.
-
Glaze the tofuReduce heat to medium-low and pour the glaze over the crispy tofu. Add the sesame seeds and gently toss to coat. Allow the sauce to simmer for 3-5 minutes until it thickens and coats the tofu.
-
Reduce the sauceContinue cooking for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has reduced and becomes sticky, clinging to the tofu cubes. Be careful not to burn the glaze.
-
ServeTransfer to a serving plate, sprinkle with additional sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve hot over steamed rice or with your favorite vegetables.
