Instructions

  1. Toast the bread
Toast all 6 slices of bread until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before assembling the sandwich.
  2. Prepare the base layer
Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on each of 2 slices of toast. Top each with a lettuce leaf, 1 slice of tomato, and 2 slices of turkey. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Add the middle layer
Place another slice of toast on top of each sandwich. Spread with 1 tablespoon mayonnaise and add another lettuce leaf, tomato slice, and 2 more slices of turkey. If using avocado, add a few slices now.
  4. Complete the sandwich
Arrange 4 bacon strips on top of each sandwich. If using mustard, spread 1 tablespoon on the remaining slices of toast and place on top, mayonnaise side down. Press down gently.
  5. Slice and serve
Using a sharp knife, cut each sandwich diagonally into quarters. Secure each quarter with a toothpick. Arrange on a plate and serve immediately with potato chips or french fries if desired.
