Instructions

  1. Prepare the avocados
In a medium bowl, mash the avocados with a fork, leaving some chunks for texture. Immediately add the lime juice and 1/2 teaspoon salt, and mix well to prevent browning.
  2. Mix the guacamole
Fold in the diced onion, jalapeño, tomatoes, cilantro, garlic, and cumin. Taste and adjust seasonings, adding more salt or lime juice if needed. Cover with plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface of the guacamole and refrigerate while you make the chips.
  3. Prepare the tortillas
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the tortilla triangles in a large bowl, drizzle with vegetable oil, and toss until lightly coated. Arrange the triangles in a single layer on baking sheets.
  4. Bake the chips
Bake for 8-10 minutes, rotating the baking sheets halfway through, until the chips are crisp and lightly golden at the edges. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle with salt and chili powder if using.
  5. Serve
Let the chips cool for a few minutes, then transfer to a serving bowl. Remove the guacamole from the refrigerator, give it a quick stir, and serve alongside the homemade tortilla chips.
