Sweet and savory Asian-inspired salmon with a sticky glaze
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the glazeIn a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, grated ginger, minced garlic, sesame oil, and sriracha (if using) until well combined. Set aside 1/4 cup of the mixture for serving.
-
Marinate the salmonPlace salmon fillets in a shallow dish, skin-side up. Pour half of the remaining glaze over the salmon. Cover and refrigerate for 15-30 minutes (or up to 2 hours for deeper flavor).
-
Prepare for cookingRemove salmon from refrigerator 10 minutes before cooking to bring to room temperature. Pat the salmon dry with paper towels, reserving the marinade. Season the flesh side with black pepper.
-
Cook the salmonHeat vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Place salmon fillets skin-side down and cook for 4-5 minutes until the skin is crispy. Carefully flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until salmon is cooked to your desired doneness.
-
Apply the glazePour the reserved marinade into the skillet and let it bubble and reduce for 1-2 minutes, spooning it over the salmon as it thickens into a glaze. The glaze should coat the back of a spoon when ready.
-
Rest and serveTransfer salmon to serving plates and let rest for 2 minutes. Drizzle with the reserved 1/4 cup of fresh glaze, then garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
