Vanilla Bean Latte
Rich espresso with real vanilla bean and steamed milk
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the vanilla milkIn a small saucepan, combine milk, sugar, and the split vanilla bean pod (scrape the seeds into the milk first, then add the pod). Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until steaming but not boiling. Remove from heat and let steep for 1-2 minutes, then remove the vanilla pod.
-
Brew the espressoWhile the milk is heating, brew a double shot of espresso using an espresso machine or stovetop moka pot. If you don't have an espresso maker, you can substitute with 1/3 cup of very strong coffee.
-
Froth the milkUsing a milk frother, handheld frother, or the steam wand on your espresso machine, froth the vanilla-infused milk until it reaches a creamy, velvety texture with small bubbles. If you don't have a frother, you can vigorously whisk the milk.
-
Assemble the lattePour the freshly brewed espresso into a large mug or glass. Slowly pour the frothed vanilla milk over the espresso, holding back the foam with a spoon. Then spoon the milk foam on top. If using, add a dollop of vanilla bean whipped cream and a light sprinkle of cinnamon.
-
Serve immediatelyFor the best flavor and temperature, serve your vanilla bean latte immediately. Optionally, you can garnish with a small piece of vanilla bean pod or an additional sprinkle of cinnamon.
