Instructions

  1. Prepare the glass
Drizzle 1 tablespoon of caramel sauce inside a tall glass or mug in a spiral pattern, working from bottom to top. Add the vanilla syrup to the bottom of the glass.
  2. Steam the milk
Steam the milk until frothy with small bubbles, reaching approximately 150°F (65°C). If you don't have a steam wand, heat the milk in a saucepan until hot but not boiling, then use a frother, blender, or vigorously whisk to create foam.
  3. Layer the drink
Slowly pour the steamed milk into the glass with the vanilla syrup, holding back the foam with a spoon. Leave about ½ inch of space at the top for the espresso and foam.
  4. Add the espresso
Carefully pour the freshly brewed espresso shot through the milk to create a layered effect. The espresso should create a distinct layer between the milk and the foam.
  5. Top with foam and caramel
Spoon the milk foam on top of the espresso layer. Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the foam in a decorative pattern. For extra flavor, sprinkle with a tiny pinch of sea salt if desired.
