Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread
Brush the outside of each bread slice with olive oil. Spread a thin layer of softened butter on the inside of each slice to enhance flavor and prevent sogginess.
  2. Assemble the panini
Layer the mozzarella slices on the bottom bread piece. Add the prosciutto slices on top of the cheese, followed by fresh arugula and basil leaves. Drizzle with balsamic glaze and sprinkle with dried oregano and black pepper.
  3. Heat the panini press
Preheat your panini press or grill pan to medium-high heat. If you don't have a panini press, a regular skillet works too - you'll just need to press down on the sandwich with a heavy pan while cooking.
  4. Grill the panini
Place the assembled sandwiches on the hot panini press and close the lid. Cook for 3-5 minutes until the bread is golden and crispy, and the cheese has melted. If using a skillet, cook for 2-3 minutes per side while pressing down.
  5. Serve
Remove the panini from the heat, cut diagonally, and serve immediately while hot and the cheese is still gooey. Optionally, serve with a small side salad or chips.
