  1. Warm the milk
    In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it begins to simmer around the edges. Be careful not to let it boil.
  2. Add the Nutella
    Reduce heat to low and add the Nutella. Whisk continuously until the Nutella is completely melted and incorporated into the milk, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Incorporate remaining ingredients
    Add the cocoa powder, sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and cinnamon (if using). Whisk vigorously until the mixture is smooth and all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  4. Simmer to thicken
    Allow the hot chocolate to simmer gently for 5 minutes, whisking occasionally to prevent scorching. The mixture will thicken slightly.
  5. Serve and garnish
    Remove from heat. Pour the hot chocolate into four mugs. Top each with whipped cream, mini marshmallows, and a sprinkle of chocolate shavings. Serve immediately while hot.
