Instructions

  1. Prepare the garlic butter
In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with minced garlic, a pinch of salt, and dried oregano until well combined. Set aside.
  2. Assemble the panini
Lay out the bottom halves of the ciabatta bread. Drizzle with olive oil and layer with prosciutto, fresh mozzarella slices, and tomato slices. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Add the herbs and finishing touches
Scatter fresh basil leaves over the tomatoes. Drizzle with balsamic glaze and sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired. Place the top halves of bread over the fillings.
  4. Prepare for grilling
Spread the prepared garlic butter on the outer sides of both the top and bottom bread slices. This will create a golden, crispy exterior when grilled.
  5. Grill the panini
Heat a panini press or large skillet over medium heat. If using a skillet, place another heavy pan on top of the sandwiches to press them down. Grill for 3-4 minutes on each side until the bread is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese has melted.
  6. Serve
Remove the panini from the grill or pan and let rest for 1 minute. Cut each sandwich diagonally and serve immediately while still hot and crispy.
