Instructions

  1. Sift the dry ingredients
In a large bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and powdered milk to remove any lumps. This ensures a smooth mixture without clumps.
  2. Add the chocolate
Add the finely chopped dark chocolate chips and white chocolate chips to the dry ingredients. The smaller you chop the chocolate, the better it will blend into the hot milk when preparing.
  3. Mix in the spices
Add the espresso powder (if using), ground cinnamon, sea salt, and ground nutmeg to the mixture. These ingredients enhance the chocolate flavor and add complexity to the hot chocolate.
  4. Blend thoroughly
Using a whisk, mix all ingredients together until they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture. Make sure there are no visible clumps of any single ingredient.
  5. Store properly
Transfer the hot chocolate mix to an airtight container or a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid. Label with the date and contents. The mix will keep at room temperature for up to 3 months.
  6. Prepare a serving
To make hot chocolate, heat 8 ounces of milk (dairy or non-dairy) until hot but not boiling. Add 2-3 tablespoons of the hot chocolate mix and stir until completely dissolved and smooth. Top with mini marshmallows or whipped cream if desired.
