Instructions

  1. Prepare the salmon
Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper. Allow to rest at room temperature for 10 minutes while preparing the glaze.
  2. Make the honey garlic glaze
In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes (if using) until well combined.
  3. Sear the salmon
Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Place the salmon in the pan skin-side down and cook for 4-5 minutes until the skin is crispy. Carefully flip and cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Add the glaze
Reduce heat to medium-low. Pour the honey garlic mixture into the skillet. Add the butter and allow it to melt into the sauce. Spoon the glaze over the salmon continuously for 2-3 minutes until the salmon is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
  5. Check for doneness
The salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork but is still slightly translucent in the center. The internal temperature should reach 125°F (52°C) for medium-rare or 130°F (54°C) for medium.
  6. Serve
Transfer the salmon to serving plates. Drizzle with the remaining glaze from the pan. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
