Ingredients
Instructions
-
Brew the hojicha teaBring 1 cup of water to a boil in a small saucepan. Remove from heat and add the hojicha tea leaves or tea bags. Allow to steep for 3-5 minutes, then strain out the leaves or remove the tea bags. The tea should be a rich amber-brown color.
-
Heat the milkIn the same saucepan, add the milk and heat over medium-low heat until it begins to steam but not boil. Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.
-
Combine and sweetenPour the steeped hojicha tea back into the saucepan with the milk. Add honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract (if using), and a pinch of salt. Whisk until well combined and heated through.
-
Froth if desiredFor a frothy latte, use a milk frother, immersion blender, or vigorously whisk the mixture until light and foamy. Alternatively, you can transfer the mixture to a blender and blend on medium speed for 20-30 seconds until frothy.
-
Serve and garnishPour the hot hojicha latte into two mugs. Top with whipped cream if desired and sprinkle with a small amount of ground cinnamon for garnish. Serve immediately while hot.
