Instructions

  1. Prepare the avocados
Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl. Mash the avocados with a fork, leaving some chunks for texture.
  2. Add the citrus
Immediately add the lime juice and mix well to prevent the avocados from browning. The acidity will help preserve the bright green color.
  3. Combine the ingredients
Add the diced red onion, tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeño, and garlic to the bowl. Gently fold these ingredients into the mashed avocado mixture.
  4. Season and adjust
Sprinkle the cumin, salt, and pepper over the mixture. Gently stir to incorporate. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed, adding more lime juice, salt, or jalapeño for extra flavor.
  5. Serve or store
For best flavor, let the guacamole rest for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld. Serve with tortilla chips, as a topping for tacos, or alongside Mexican dishes. If not serving immediately, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole and refrigerate to prevent browning.
