Instructions

  1. Marinate the meat
In a bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add the sliced meat, toss to coat evenly, and let marinate for at least 15 minutes (or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator for better flavor).
  2. Cook the meat
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated meat and cook for 6-8 minutes until thoroughly cooked and slightly crispy on the edges. Set aside and keep warm.
  3. Warm the pita
Heat the pita bread either in a dry skillet for 30 seconds per side, in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 2-3 minutes, or in a microwave for 15-20 seconds until warm and pliable.
  4. Prepare the vegetables
While the meat is cooking, prepare the vegetables. Slice the cucumber, dice the tomatoes, and thinly slice the red onion. Keep them separate for assembly.
  5. Assemble the sandwiches
Lay each warmed pita flat and spread 2 tablespoons of tzatziki sauce in the center. Add a portion of the cooked meat, then top with tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, and crumbled feta cheese.
  6. Fold and serve
Fold the pita over the filling to form a pocket or wrap it like a burrito, securing with parchment paper or foil if needed. Serve immediately while still warm.
