Instructions
-
Prepare the vegetablesHeat 2 tablespoons of butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced bell peppers and onions, season with salt and pepper. Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are soft and beginning to caramelize. Remove from skillet and set aside.
-
Cook the steakIn the same skillet, add the thinly sliced ribeye steak. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dried oregano. Cook for 3-4 minutes, breaking up the meat with a spatula. Add Worcestershire sauce and continue cooking until the meat is no longer pink, about 2 more minutes.
-
Combine and melt cheeseReturn the peppers and onions to the skillet with the meat and mix well. Reduce heat to low. Arrange the slices of provolone or American cheese over the meat mixture. Cover the skillet and let the cheese melt for about 2 minutes.
-
Prepare the bunsPreheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the slider buns in half horizontally, keeping them connected. Place the bottom half in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
-
Assemble the slidersUsing a slotted spoon, evenly distribute the cheesesteak mixture over the bottom buns. Place the top buns over the filling. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, brush over the top of the buns, and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using.
-
Bake and serveCover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the tops are golden brown. Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then cut into individual sliders and serve hot.
