Meatball Sliders
Juicy beef meatballs in marinara sauce on soft mini buns
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the meatball mixtureIn a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
-
Form the meatballsScoop approximately 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture and roll between your palms to form meatballs about 1½ inches in diameter. You should get about 18-20 meatballs. Place them on a plate or baking sheet.
-
Cook the meatballsHeat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
-
Simmer in saucePour marinara sauce into the skillet and bring to a simmer. Return the meatballs to the skillet, coating them in the sauce. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until the meatballs are tender and have absorbed some of the sauce flavors.
-
Toast the bunsWhile the meatballs are simmering, preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the slider buns cut side up on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 3-5 minutes until lightly golden. Remove from oven but leave the oven on.
-
Assemble the slidersPlace the bottom halves of the toasted buns on a baking sheet. Place 1-2 meatballs on each bun bottom, spooning a little extra sauce over each. Top each with half a slice of provolone cheese.
-
Melt the cheesePlace the baking sheet with the assembled sliders (without tops) in the oven for 2-3 minutes, just until the cheese melts. Remove from the oven and place the top buns on each slider.
