Instructions
-
Prepare the friesPreheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Toss the potato fries with 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, salt, and pepper. Spread them in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and crispy.
-
Season the steakWhile the fries are baking, season the thinly sliced steak with salt and pepper. Heat a large skillet over high heat until very hot.
-
Cook the steakAdd the remaining tablespoon of oil to the hot skillet. Add the steak in a single layer (work in batches if needed) and cook for 1-2 minutes until browned. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and cook for another minute. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
-
Sauté the vegetablesIn the same skillet, add the sliced bell peppers and onions. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until softened and beginning to caramelize. Add the minced garlic and dried oregano, and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
-
Combine steak and vegetablesReturn the cooked steak to the skillet with the vegetables. Stir to combine and season with additional salt and pepper if needed. Remove from heat.
-
Assemble the loaded friesTransfer the baked fries to an oven-safe serving dish or leave them on the baking sheet. Top with the steak and vegetable mixture, spreading it evenly. Layer the provolone cheese and American cheese (or drizzle Cheez Whiz) over the top.
-
Melt the cheeseReturn the loaded fries to the oven and bake for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted and bubbly.
-
ServeRemove from the oven, garnish with sliced green onions, and serve immediately while hot and gooey. For an authentic touch, serve with ketchup, hot sauce, or ranch dressing on the side.
