Instructions
-
Brew the coffeeUsing a Vietnamese phin filter or your preferred brewing method, brew a strong cup of coffee with the coffee grounds and hot water. If using a phin filter, place it directly over a cup with the sweetened condensed milk at the bottom.
-
Caramelize the bananasIn a non-stick skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add brown sugar and stir until it begins to dissolve. Add sliced bananas, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes, gently turning the bananas until they're golden and caramelized.
-
Prepare the baseIf your coffee wasn't brewed directly over the condensed milk, stir the sweetened condensed milk into the hot coffee until completely dissolved. Add the vanilla extract and stir to combine.
-
Combine and serve hotPlace the caramelized bananas in the bottom of serving glasses or mugs. Pour the coffee mixture over the bananas. Optionally garnish with a light dusting of cinnamon. Serve hot.
-
For iced versionFor an iced version, let the coffee cool slightly before pouring over the bananas, then add ice cubes. Alternatively, blend the coffee mixture with the caramelized bananas and ice for a frappé-style drink.
