Instructions

  1. Steep the tea
Place the Earl Grey tea bags and dried lavender (if using) in a teapot or heat-resistant container. Pour the hot water over them and steep for 3-5 minutes depending on desired strength. Remove the tea bags and strain out the lavender.
  2. Prepare the milk
While the tea is steeping, heat the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until steaming but not boiling. Alternatively, heat in a microwave for about 1 minute. For a frothy texture, use a milk frother, whisk vigorously, or blend the heated milk for 20-30 seconds.
  3. Sweeten the tea
Add the vanilla syrup (or vanilla extract and sugar) and honey or maple syrup (if using) to the steeped tea. Stir until completely dissolved. Add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors.
  4. Combine and serve
Divide the sweetened tea between two mugs, filling them about halfway. Top with the hot frothed milk, pouring slowly to maintain the foam on top. The ratio should be roughly 1:1 tea to milk, but adjust according to your preference.
  5. Garnish and enjoy
If desired, garnish with a sprinkle of dried lavender, a small sprig of fresh lavender, or some lemon zest. Serve immediately while hot, allowing the aromatic steam to enhance the drinking experience.
