Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the marinadeIn a large bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and grated Asian pear. Mix thoroughly until sugar is dissolved.
-
Marinate the beefAdd the thinly sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, ideally 2-4 hours for the best flavor development.
-
Prepare the vegetablesWhile the beef is marinating, prepare the vegetables. Blanch the spinach and bean sprouts separately in boiling water for 30 seconds, then shock in ice water. Drain well and season with a pinch of salt and a few drops of sesame oil. Julienne the carrot and cucumber.
-
Cook the beefHeat vegetable oil in a large skillet over high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer (work in batches if necessary) and cook for 2-3 minutes until caramelized and cooked through. The thin slices will cook quickly, so watch carefully.
-
Prepare the eggs (optional)In a separate non-stick pan, fry eggs sunny-side up or to your preferred doneness. A runny yolk adds richness to the bowl when mixed in.
-
Assemble the bowlsDivide the cooked rice among four serving bowls. Arrange the cooked beef and prepared vegetables in separate sections on top of the rice. If using, place a fried egg on top of each bowl.
-
Garnish and serveSprinkle toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions over each bowl. Serve immediately, encouraging diners to mix all ingredients together before eating for the best flavor experience.
