Instructions

  1. Heat the water
Bring filtered water to just below boiling point (about 175-185°F or 80-85°C). Using water that's too hot will make the tea bitter, while water that's too cool won't extract the flavors properly.
  2. Prepare the teapot
Warm your teapot or cups by rinsing them with hot water, then discard the water. This helps maintain the tea's temperature during brewing.
  3. Steep the tea
Place the jasmine tea leaves or tea bags into the warmed teapot and pour the hot water over them. Cover and allow to steep for 2-3 minutes for a delicate flavor, or up to 4 minutes for a stronger brew. Be careful not to over-steep, as jasmine tea can become bitter.
  4. Strain and serve
Using a fine mesh strainer, pour the tea into cups, catching the loose leaves. If using tea bags, simply remove them. Add honey if desired. For hot tea, serve immediately. For iced jasmine tea, let it cool to room temperature before refrigerating, then serve over ice with lemon slices and mint.
  5. Garnish (optional)
Float a dried jasmine flower on top of each cup for an elegant presentation. If using orange blossom water, add a few drops to each cup for an enhanced floral aroma that complements the jasmine beautifully.
