Ginger Tea
A warming spiced drink with soothing properties
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the gingerPeel the ginger root using the edge of a spoon and slice it thinly to maximize the surface area. The thinner the slices, the more flavor will be extracted.
-
Boil the waterIn a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, add the sliced ginger and any optional spices (cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, star anise).
-
Simmer the teaReduce the heat to low and simmer the mixture for 5-10 minutes. The longer you simmer, the stronger the ginger flavor will be. For a more intense tea, cover the pot while simmering.
-
Strain and serveRemove from heat and strain the tea into cups using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth. Add honey and lemon juice to taste, stirring until the honey is completely dissolved.
