Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce
In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set aside 1/4 cup of this mixture in a separate small bowl and stir in the cornstarch until dissolved.
  2. Marinate the shrimp
Add the shrimp to the bowl with the remaining sauce and toss to coat. Allow to marinate for 10 minutes at room temperature while you prepare other ingredients.
  3. Cook the shrimp
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove half the shrimp from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until pink and slightly charred. Transfer to a plate and repeat with remaining oil and shrimp.
  4. Make the glaze
Pour the reserved marinade into the now-empty skillet and bring to a simmer. Add the cornstarch mixture and stir constantly until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes. Stir in the butter and rice vinegar until butter is melted and sauce is glossy.
  5. Combine and finish
Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the glaze. Cook for another minute until shrimp is heated through and well-coated with the sticky sauce.
  6. Serve
Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately over steamed rice or with vegetables of your choice.
