Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the fillingIn a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, chopped Napa cabbage, green onions, grated carrot, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
-
Season the mixtureAdd soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, sugar, and white pepper to the chicken and vegetable mixture. Stir well to distribute the seasonings evenly throughout the filling. Let the mixture rest for 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
-
Form the wontonsPlace a wonton wrapper on a clean, flat surface. Spoon approximately 1 tablespoon of the filling into the center of the wrapper. Dip your finger in water and moisten the edges of the wrapper. Fold the wrapper in half diagonally to form a triangle, pressing firmly around the filling to seal and remove any air pockets.
-
Shape the wontonsTake the two bottom corners of the triangle and bring them together, overlapping slightly. Secure with a dab of water. This creates the traditional wonton shape. Place the formed wontons on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure they don't touch each other.
-
Cook the wontonsYou can cook the wontons using three different methods. For boiling: Drop wontons in boiling water for 3-4 minutes until they float and are cooked through. For steaming: Steam for 6-8 minutes until translucent and cooked. For pan-frying: Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add wontons and cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown on the bottom, then add 1/4 cup water, cover, and steam for 3-4 minutes until water evaporates.
-
Prepare dipping sauceWhile the wontons are cooking, prepare a simple dipping sauce by combining 3 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon rice vinegar, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, and a pinch of red pepper flakes in a small bowl. Mix well and divide into individual dipping bowls.
