
Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry

Prepare the beefPlace the thinly sliced flank steak in a bowl. In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 1 tablespoon soy sauce to create a marinade. Pour over beef, toss to coat, and let sit for 10 minutes while preparing other ingredients.

Make the sauceIn a medium bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, and cornstarch until smooth. Set aside.

Cook the broccoliHeat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add broccoli and stir-fry for 3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Add 2 tablespoons of water, cover, and steam for 1 minute. Transfer broccoli to a plate.

Cook the beefAdd the remaining tablespoon of oil to the wok. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and let it sear for 1 minute without stirring. Then stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until beef is just cooked through. Remove and set aside with the broccoli.

Combine aromaticsIn the same wok, add garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn.

Bring it all togetherPour the sauce mixture into the wok and bring to a simmer. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens. Return beef and broccoli to the wok, add sesame oil, and toss to coat everything evenly in the sauce.

Finish and serveTransfer to a serving dish and garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately with steamed rice.
