Instructions

  1. Prepare the Lettuce
Carefully separate the lettuce leaves, keeping them whole. Wash and pat dry with paper towels. Refrigerate until ready to use to maintain crispness.
  2. Cook the Aromatics
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic, ginger, and onion. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and the onion becomes translucent.
  3. Brown the Chicken
Add the ground chicken to the skillet, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the chicken is no longer pink and is lightly browned.
  4. Add Sauces and Water Chestnuts
Stir in the water chestnuts, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce is well incorporated and slightly reduced. The mixture should be moist but not too wet.
  5. Add Finishing Touches
Remove the skillet from heat and stir in half of the green onions and cilantro. Allow the mixture to cool slightly before serving, which will help intensify the flavors.
  6. Assemble the Wraps
Arrange the lettuce leaves on a serving platter. Spoon approximately 3-4 tablespoons of the chicken mixture onto each lettuce leaf. The amount may vary depending on the size of your lettuce leaves.
  7. Garnish and Serve
Top each wrap with julienned carrots and sprinkle with the remaining green onions and cilantro. Serve immediately while the filling is still warm and the lettuce is crisp.
