Apple Fritter Bread
Sweet loaf with cinnamon apple swirls and vanilla glaze
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the Pan and OvenPreheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper, leaving overhang on the sides for easy removal.
-
Mix Dry IngredientsIn a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined. Set aside.
-
Prepare Apple FillingIn a separate bowl, combine the diced apples with brown sugar and cinnamon. Toss until apples are evenly coated and set aside to allow the flavors to meld.
-
Create BatterIn a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract. Gradually add the flour mixture alternating with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Mix just until combined - do not overmix.
-
Layer the BreadPour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Spread half of the apple mixture over the batter. Pour remaining batter over apples, then top with the remaining apple mixture. Use a knife to swirl the batter and apples together, creating a marbled effect.
-
Bake the BreadBake in the preheated oven for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. If the top is browning too quickly, tent with aluminum foil halfway through baking. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
-
Prepare the GlazeWhile the bread is cooling, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Add more milk if needed to reach desired consistency - the glaze should be thick but pourable.
-
Finish and ServeOnce the bread has cooled completely, drizzle the glaze over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides. Let the glaze set for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
