Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the breadPreheat oven to 250°F. Spread bread cubes on two large baking sheets and bake for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until completely dry but not browned. Let cool and transfer to a very large mixing bowl.
-
Sauté the aromaticsIncrease oven temperature to 350°F. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add onions and celery and cook, stirring occasionally, until very soft and translucent, about 10-12 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute more.
-
Add herbsStir in sage, thyme, and rosemary and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and stir in parsley. Season with salt and pepper.
-
Combine ingredientsPour the vegetable mixture over the dried bread cubes. Add 2 cups of chicken broth and toss gently to combine. In a small bowl, whisk eggs with 1/2 cup of chicken broth, then pour over the bread mixture. Gently fold everything together until evenly moistened. Add more broth if the stuffing seems dry - it should be moist but not soggy.
-
Bake the stuffingButter a 9x13-inch baking dish. Transfer the stuffing mixture to the prepared dish and cover with foil. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking until the top is golden brown and crisp, about 15-20 minutes more.
-
Rest and serveLet the stuffing rest for 10 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together and the texture to set up slightly.
