Instructions

  1. Prepare the coffee mixture
In a heatproof container, combine the ground coffee and cardamom. Add the almond extract and mix thoroughly until well incorporated.
  2. Brew the coffee
Pour the boiling water over the coffee mixture. Stir gently and let steep for 4-5 minutes. For a stronger flavor, steep for up to 7 minutes.
  3. Strain the coffee
Strain the coffee through a fine-mesh sieve or a coffee filter into a large pitcher or container. This removes the coffee grounds and ensures a smooth drink.
  4. Sweeten the coffee
While the coffee is still hot, add the sugar and stir until completely dissolved. Allow the sweetened coffee to cool to room temperature.
  5. Prepare serving glasses
Fill 4 tall glasses with ice cubes, filling each glass about halfway with ice.
  6. Mix in the milk
Pour 2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk into each glass. If using evaporated milk, add 1 tablespoon to each glass as well. The milk will settle at the bottom of the glass.
  7. Pour and serve
Pour the cooled coffee over the ice and milk mixture, filling each glass to the top. Stir well before drinking to mix the milk with the coffee. Garnish with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon and a cinnamon stick if desired.
