Instructions

  1. Prepare the bean layer
In a medium bowl, mix the refried beans with the taco seasoning until well combined. Spread evenly in a 9x13 inch glass dish or a large shallow serving platter to form the first layer.
  2. Create the guacamole layer
In a separate bowl, mash the avocados with lime juice and salt until desired consistency is reached. Carefully spread this mixture over the bean layer, ensuring the layers remain distinct.
  3. Add remaining layers
Spread the sour cream evenly over the guacamole layer. Sprinkle the shredded cheese to create the fourth layer. Add diced tomatoes for the fifth layer, followed by green onions for the sixth layer. Finally, top with black olives and cilantro for the seventh layer.
  4. Chill and serve
Cover the dip with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld. Serve with tortilla chips for dipping. For best presentation and flavor, prepare this dip no more than 24 hours in advance.
  5. Add optional heat
If using the jalapeño, sprinkle it on top with the olives and cilantro for added heat. You can adjust the spiciness by including or omitting the seeds based on your preference.
