
Italian Chicken Hoagie
Savory grilled chicken with Italian flavors on a crusty roll

Marinate the chickenIn a medium bowl, combine the sliced chicken with 1 tablespoon olive oil, Italian seasoning, half of the minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly and let marinate for at least 10 minutes while preparing other ingredients.

Cook the vegetablesHeat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced bell peppers and onions, cooking until softened and slightly caramelized, about 8-10 minutes. Add the remaining garlic during the last minute of cooking. Transfer to a plate and set aside.

Cook the chickenIn the same skillet, add the marinated chicken and cook over medium-high heat until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Season with additional salt and pepper if needed.

Prepare the sauceIn a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise and Italian dressing until well combined. This will be your special hoagie spread.

Toast the rollsPreheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the split hoagie rolls on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 3-5 minutes until lightly crisp.

Assemble the hoagiesSpread the mayonnaise-dressing mixture on both sides of the toasted rolls. On the bottom half of each roll, layer 2 slices of provolone cheese, followed by a quarter of the cooked chicken, and a quarter of the sautéed peppers and onions.

Add fresh toppingsTop each sandwich with shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper if desired.

ServeClose the sandwiches, cut in half diagonally if desired, and serve immediately while still warm. Wrap in parchment paper for an authentic hoagie experience.
