Hotsilog
Filipino breakfast with hotdogs, fried rice, and eggs
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the hotdogsCut each hotdog diagonally into bite-sized pieces. In a pan over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of oil and fry the hotdogs until slightly crispy and browned on all sides, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside.
-
Cook the garlic fried riceIn the same pan, add the remaining oil. Sauté minced garlic until golden brown, then add diced onions and cook until translucent. Add the day-old rice, breaking up any clumps. Stir in soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well until rice is evenly coated and heated through, about 5 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
-
Fry the eggsWipe the pan clean and add a small amount of oil if needed. Crack eggs into the pan and fry to your preference - sunny side up is traditional, but you can also make them over easy. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper while cooking.
-
Assemble the HotsilogOn each serving plate, place a portion of garlic fried rice, 2 fried hotdogs, and 2 fried eggs. Garnish with sliced tomatoes and chopped green onions.
-
Serve with condimentsServe hot with banana ketchup on the side for dipping the hotdogs. Some people also enjoy adding a splash of vinegar or a side of atchara (pickled green papaya) for additional flavor.
