Hot Chocolate Affogato
Decadent espresso poured over rich chocolate ice cream
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare serving glassesChill 4 small serving glasses or cups in the freezer for about 10 minutes. This helps prevent the ice cream from melting too quickly when the hot espresso is added.
-
Add chocolate sauceRemove the chilled glasses and drizzle 1 tablespoon of chocolate sauce around the inside of each glass, creating a decorative pattern. If desired, reserve a small amount for topping.
-
Scoop the ice creamPlace one generous scoop of chocolate ice cream into each prepared glass. If you're using vanilla extract, you can add a few drops to each scoop for extra flavor.
-
Brew the espressoPrepare fresh espresso using an espresso machine or strong coffee using a Moka pot. If using the optional chocolate liqueur, stir it into the hot espresso.
-
Pour and serveImmediately pour one shot of hot espresso over each ice cream scoop. The hot espresso will begin to melt the ice cream, creating a creamy, rich mixture.
-
Add toppingsTop each serving with a dollop of whipped cream, a sprinkle of chocolate chips or shavings, and dust with cocoa powder. Add a chocolate-covered espresso bean and optional cinnamon stick for garnish.
