Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread bread cubes on a large baking sheet and toast for 10-15 minutes until lightly golden and dry. Transfer to a large mixing bowl.
  2. Toast the pecans
In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the pecans for 5-7 minutes until fragrant, stirring occasionally to prevent burning. Add to the bowl with bread cubes along with the dried cranberries.
  3. Sauté the aromatics
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add onions and celery, cooking until softened, about 8 minutes. Add garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant. Stir in sage, thyme, and rosemary. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Combine ingredients
Add the vegetable mixture to the bowl with bread cubes. Pour in 2 cups of broth and toss gently to combine. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs with the remaining ½ cup broth and pour over the stuffing mixture. Gently fold everything together until evenly moistened.
  5. Bake the stuffing
Butter a 9x13-inch baking dish. Transfer the stuffing mixture to the prepared dish, spreading it evenly. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking for another 15 minutes until the top is golden brown and crisp.
  6. Rest and serve
Let the stuffing rest for 10 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together. Garnish with additional fresh herbs if desired.
