Instructions

  1. Prepare the tofu
Carefully remove the tofu from its package and drain excess water. Gently place the tofu block on a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to absorb more moisture. Cut the tofu into 4 equal squares or rectangles.
  2. Create serving plates
Place each piece of tofu on individual small plates or in shallow bowls. If you prefer family-style serving, arrange all pieces on a single serving platter with some space between them.
  3. Make the sauce
In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Mix well to create a balanced dressing that will complement the delicate flavor of the tofu.
  4. Add toppings
Top each piece of tofu with equal portions of grated ginger. Sprinkle the sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds over the tofu. If using, add the nori strips, bonito flakes, and shichimi togarashi for extra flavor and texture.
  5. Dress and serve
Drizzle the soy sauce mixture evenly over each tofu piece. Serve immediately while the tofu is still cold for the most refreshing experience. Provide small spoons for guests to enjoy every bit of the sauce and toppings.
