Instructions

  1. Prepare the BBQ glaze
In a medium saucepan, combine BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Add the beer and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 8-10 minutes until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Prepare the grill
Preheat your grill to medium heat (about 350°F/175°C). If using a charcoal grill, set up for indirect heat by placing coals on one side. If using a gas grill, turn on burners on one side only. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  3. Prepare the sausages
Using a fork, poke a few small holes in each sausage to prevent them from bursting during cooking. Brush the sausages lightly with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Grill the sausages
Place the sausages on the grill over indirect heat. Close the lid and cook for about 15-18 minutes, turning occasionally, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). During the last 5 minutes of cooking, brush the sausages generously with the BBQ glaze, turning to coat all sides.
  5. Grill the vegetables
While the sausages are cooking, heat the remaining vegetable oil in a cast-iron skillet or grill basket. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers, and cook until softened and slightly charred, about 8-10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Rest and serve
Remove the sausages from the grill and let them rest for 3-5 minutes. Serve the BBQ beef sausages on a platter with the grilled vegetables and remaining BBQ glaze on the side for dipping.
