BBQ Beef Sausage
Smoky, tender beef sausages with homemade BBQ glaze
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the BBQ glazeIn a medium saucepan, combine BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Add the beer and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 8-10 minutes until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and set aside.
-
Prepare the grillPreheat your grill to medium heat (about 350°F/175°C). If using a charcoal grill, set up for indirect heat by placing coals on one side. If using a gas grill, turn on burners on one side only. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
-
Prepare the sausagesUsing a fork, poke a few small holes in each sausage to prevent them from bursting during cooking. Brush the sausages lightly with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
-
Grill the sausagesPlace the sausages on the grill over indirect heat. Close the lid and cook for about 15-18 minutes, turning occasionally, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). During the last 5 minutes of cooking, brush the sausages generously with the BBQ glaze, turning to coat all sides.
-
Grill the vegetablesWhile the sausages are cooking, heat the remaining vegetable oil in a cast-iron skillet or grill basket. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers, and cook until softened and slightly charred, about 8-10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
-
Rest and serveRemove the sausages from the grill and let them rest for 3-5 minutes. Serve the BBQ beef sausages on a platter with the grilled vegetables and remaining BBQ glaze on the side for dipping.
