Fresh raw tuna cubes marinated in Asian-inspired dressing
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the tunaEnsure your tuna is very fresh and sushi-grade. Pat it dry with paper towels and cut into 1/4-inch cubes. Keep refrigerated until ready to use.
-
Make the dressingIn a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, lime juice, grated ginger, and sriracha (if using) until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
-
Combine ingredientsIn a large bowl, gently combine the diced tuna, cucumber, jalapeño, and green onions. Pour about 3/4 of the dressing over the mixture and fold gently with a spatula, being careful not to break up the tuna cubes.
-
Add avocadoCarefully fold in the diced avocado and cilantro, being careful not to mash the avocado. Drizzle with remaining dressing as needed.
-
Chill and seasonCover and refrigerate for 5-10 minutes to let the flavors meld together. Don't marinate for too long or the acid will begin to cook the tuna.
-
Plate and garnishUsing a ring mold or cookie cutter, carefully pack the tartare mixture inside to create a neat tower on each plate. Alternatively, simply spoon onto plates. Sprinkle with black sesame seeds and additional green onions.
