Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce
In a small bowl, mix together the oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, and sugar until the sugar dissolves. Set aside.
  2. Heat the wok
Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add the vegetable oil and swirl to coat the surface.
  3. Cook the aromatics
Add the minced garlic and Thai chilies to the hot oil. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not burned.
  4. Brown the pork
Add the ground pork to the wok, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until no longer pink and starting to brown.
  5. Add vegetables
Add the sliced onion and bell pepper to the wok. Stir-fry for another 2 minutes until the vegetables begin to soften but still maintain some crunch.
  6. Add the sauce
Pour the sauce mixture over the pork and vegetables. Stir-fry for another minute, ensuring everything is well coated.
  7. Incorporate the basil
Turn off the heat and add the Thai basil leaves. Stir quickly to incorporate the basil, allowing it to wilt from the residual heat but still maintain its color and aroma.
  8. Serve the dish
Divide the cooked jasmine rice among four bowls. Top each with the Thai basil pork mixture. If desired, add a fried egg on top of each bowl and serve with lime wedges on the side.
