Succulent grilled shrimp with a fiery marinade
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the marinadeIn a large bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, lime juice, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, cumin, honey, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Whisk thoroughly until well mixed.
-
Marinate the shrimpAdd the peeled and deveined shrimp to the marinade, tossing to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 1 hour for more intense flavor.
-
Prepare the skewersIf using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning. Thread the marinated shrimp onto skewers, alternating with pieces of red bell pepper, green bell pepper, and red onion.
-
Preheat the grillHeat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat (about 400°F/200°C). Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
-
Grill the skewersPlace the skewers on the preheated grill and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp are pink, opaque, and slightly charred on the edges. Be careful not to overcook as shrimp can become tough and rubbery.
-
Rest and garnishTransfer the skewers to a serving platter and let rest for 2 minutes. Sprinkle with freshly chopped cilantro just before serving.
