Instructions

  1. Prepare the ham
Place the spiral cut ham in a large slow cooker with the cut side down. If needed, trim a small portion of the ham to make it fit properly in your slow cooker.
  2. Make the glaze
In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and ginger until well combined and the sugar begins to dissolve.
  3. Add glaze to ham
Pour the glaze mixture over the ham, trying to cover as much of the surface as possible. Some will run down to the bottom of the slow cooker, which is fine.
  4. Cook low and slow
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 5-6 hours, or until the ham is heated through to an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C). Baste the ham with the collected juices every 1-2 hours if possible.
  5. Rest the ham
Once cooked, carefully transfer the ham to a serving platter and tent loosely with foil. Let it rest for 15-20 minutes before serving.
  6. Thicken the glaze (optional)
If you prefer a thicker glaze, transfer the cooking liquid to a saucepan. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Whisk the slurry into the glaze and bring to a simmer over medium heat until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
