
Matcha Latte Float
Creamy ice cream meets earthy Japanese green tea

Prepare the matchaSift the matcha powder into a small bowl to remove any clumps. Add the hot water and whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion using a bamboo whisk (chasen) or small regular whisk until frothy and no lumps remain.

Create the matcha baseIn a medium bowl, combine the matcha mixture with milk, heavy cream, maple syrup or honey, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well incorporated and smooth.

Chill the mixturePour the matcha mixture into a container and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes or until cold. This step can be done ahead of time for a more chilled beverage.

Assemble the floatFill two tall glasses halfway with ice cubes. Pour the chilled matcha mixture over the ice, leaving about 2 inches of space at the top of each glass.

Add ice cream and garnishGently place a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of each glass. The ice cream should float on the matcha latte. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and dust lightly with additional matcha powder.

Serve immediatelyProvide both a straw and a long spoon with each glass. The float should be enjoyed by both drinking the matcha latte and eating the melting ice cream together.
