Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the pie crustPreheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the unbaked pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate, trim and crimp edges. Refrigerate while preparing the filling.
-
Toast the walnutsSpread walnut halves on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 8-10 minutes, stirring once, until fragrant and lightly browned. Let cool, then coarsely chop and set aside.
-
Prepare the maple fillingIn a large bowl, whisk together maple syrup, eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined. In a separate bowl, toss chopped walnuts with flour and cinnamon to coat, then fold into the maple mixture.
-
Assemble and bakePour the maple-walnut filling into the chilled pie crust. Cover the edges of the crust with aluminum foil to prevent over-browning. Bake at 375°F for 20 minutes, then reduce oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, until the center is set but still slightly jiggly.
-
Cool and serveRemove pie from oven and place on a wire rack to cool completely, at least 2 hours. The filling will continue to set as it cools. Serve at room temperature with a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
