Jasmine Rice
Fragrant and fluffy Thai rice with a subtle floral aroma
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Rinse the ricePlace the jasmine rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and helps the rice cook more evenly.
-
Prepare the cooking potTransfer the rinsed rice to a medium saucepan. Add the water, salt, and oil or butter if using. If desired, add the pandan leaf for extra fragrance.
-
Cook the riceBring the water to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, stir once, reduce the heat to low, and cover with a tight-fitting lid. Simmer for 15 minutes without removing the lid.
-
Rest and fluffRemove the pot from heat and let the rice stand, still covered, for 5-10 minutes. This allows the rice to finish steaming and absorb any remaining moisture. Remove the pandan leaf if used, and fluff the rice gently with a fork.
-
Add optional flavoringsIf desired, add lime juice and minced garlic while the rice is still warm and gently fold them in. This step is optional but adds additional flavor to complement the natural fragrance of jasmine rice.
-
ServeTransfer the rice to a serving bowl, garnish with chopped cilantro if desired, and serve hot alongside your favorite Thai, Vietnamese, or other Asian dishes.
