  1. Prepare the matcha
    In a small bowl, sift the matcha powder to remove any clumps. Add 2 tablespoons of hot (not boiling) water and whisk until the matcha is fully dissolved and smooth.
  2. Combine base ingredients
    In a blender, add the dissolved matcha, frozen banana slices, almond milk, Greek yogurt, sweetener of choice, and vanilla extract.
  3. Add remaining ingredients
    Add the ice cubes, avocado (if using), chia seeds, and a pinch of salt to the blender. The avocado will make the smoothie extra creamy while the salt will enhance the overall flavor.
  4. Blend until smooth
    Blend on high speed for 45-60 seconds until all ingredients are completely incorporated and the smoothie is smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides of the blender if necessary and blend again.
  5. Adjust consistency
    If the smoothie is too thick, add more almond milk, 1 tablespoon at a time. If it's too thin, add more ice or frozen banana. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  6. Serve immediately
    Pour the smoothie into chilled glasses. Optionally, garnish with a light dusting of matcha powder, a few chia seeds, or a small mint leaf. Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
