Tender marinated beef skewers with peanut dipping sauce
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the marinadeIn a large bowl, combine kecap manis, vegetable oil, lime juice, minced garlic, ground coriander, turmeric, and cumin. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
-
Marinate the beefAdd the beef cubes to the marinade and toss to coat evenly. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, turning occasionally for even flavor distribution.
-
Make the peanut sauceIn a medium saucepan, combine ground peanuts, coconut milk, brown sugar, tamarind paste, and chopped chilies. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat, stirring frequently to prevent burning. Cook for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens. Add a splash of water if it becomes too thick. Remove from heat and set aside.
-
Prepare the skewersThread the marinated beef cubes onto the pre-soaked bamboo skewers, placing 4-5 pieces on each skewer. Leave a small space between each piece to ensure even cooking.
-
Grill the satayPreheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking. Grill the skewers for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the beef is nicely charred on the outside but still juicy inside, about 8-10 minutes total.
-
Serve with peanut sauceArrange the grilled beef satay on a serving platter. Reheat the peanut sauce if necessary and transfer to a small bowl. Serve the satay immediately with the warm peanut sauce for dipping.
