Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the marinadeIn a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes until well combined. Reserve ¼ cup of the marinade for brushing later.
-
Marinate the shrimpPlace the peeled and deveined shrimp in a large ziplock bag or bowl. Pour the remaining marinade over the shrimp, ensuring they are well coated. Seal and refrigerate for 15-30 minutes (no longer than 30 minutes as the acid will start to cook the shrimp).
-
Prepare for grillingIf using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 15 minutes to prevent burning. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F/205°C) or heat a grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates.
-
Skewer the shrimpRemove shrimp from the marinade, discarding the used marinade. Thread 4-5 shrimp onto each skewer, being careful not to overcrowd them so they cook evenly.
-
Grill the skewersPlace the skewers on the preheated grill. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until shrimp are pink, opaque, and slightly charred. While grilling, brush the shrimp with the reserved marinade for extra flavor and glaze.
-
Garnish and serveTransfer the grilled shrimp skewers to a serving platter. Sprinkle with chopped cilantro, toasted sesame seeds, and sliced green onions. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the shrimp.
