
Cinnamon Roll French Toast Bake
A decadent breakfast casserole with cinnamon swirls

Prepare the baking dishPreheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray. Set aside both containers of icing from the cinnamon roll packages.

Cut and arrange cinnamon rollsOpen cinnamon roll packages and cut each roll into 6 pieces. Arrange the pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish.

Prepare the custard mixtureIn a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined. Pour this mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces, making sure all pieces are coated.

Add the toppingIn a small bowl, mix together melted butter and brown sugar. Drizzle this mixture over the casserole. If using pecans, sprinkle them evenly on top.

Bake the casseroleBake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is set. If the top starts browning too quickly, cover loosely with aluminum foil.

Prepare the icingWhile the casserole is baking, place the reserved icing containers in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 10-15 seconds to soften.

Finish and serveOnce the casserole is done, remove from oven and immediately drizzle with the warmed icing. Let it stand for 5 minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve with additional maple syrup.
