Blue Cheese Burgers
Juicy beef patties stuffed with tangy blue cheese
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the beef mixtureIn a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
-
Form the pattiesDivide the meat into 8 equal portions. Form each portion into a thin patty. Place about 1 tablespoon of crumbled blue cheese in the center of 4 patties. Top each with another patty and seal the edges by pinching them together. Gently flatten to form burgers about 3/4 inch thick with the cheese sealed inside.
-
Chill the pattiesPlace the formed patties on a plate, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This helps the burgers hold their shape during cooking.
-
Caramelize the onionsWhile the patties are chilling, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced red onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
-
Cook the burgersPreheat your grill or a large skillet to medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a tablespoon of oil. Cook the burgers for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness, or adjust according to your preference. If the burgers start to puff up, press them down gently with a spatula.
-
Toast the bunsDuring the last minute of cooking, place the buns cut-side down on the grill or in a separate pan to toast them lightly.
-
Assemble the burgersPlace each cooked burger on a toasted bun bottom. Top with caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato slices, and the top bun. Serve immediately while hot.
